Terrestrial Mobile Lidar
Terrestrial mobile lidar is conducted through deployment of a survey-grade terrestrial mobile lidar system. This comprises multiple lidar sensor heads, cameras as well as position and orientation systems.
Absolute accuracies (hor/vert) are on the order of <5cm; GSDs can be in the thousands of points/m2.
Although performance standards are still evolving, our systems, practices, QA/QC procedures and ground control have been validated to provide data to meet the most stringent agency requirements, including:
Road and Highway
AHMCT / DOT relative accuracy compliance for:
Bridge and roadway structure damage and risk assessment
Bridge, tunnel & structural as-builts
Road prism as-builts
Pavement surface areas
Construction inspection documentation
ADA inventory compliance
Railroad
FRA / PTC compliance for location and measurement of:
Top of rail / third rail
Switches & frogs
Ballast & ties
Platform clearance
Bridge clearance
Overhead line crossings
Building & vegetation clearance
Mileposts & signals
Right-of-way DEMs generation
Ground Penetrating Radar
For urban environments our payload configuration can optionally support simultaneous GPR collection. Performance varies based on permitted operating frequencies, antenna selection and soil resistivity, but under ideal conditions with shielded antennas, depth penetration can exceed 40m. This provides utility identification along and across the vehicle track under normal operating speeds. It is not uncommon to identify and locate subsidence, voids and back filled trench areas, as well as buried cultural artifacts during many utility locates.
